Captain's Library ADVENTURES OF JERRY LEWIS "Jerry Meets the New Wonder Woman" Conclusion

The then-non-super-powered Wonder Woman meets fan Jerry Lewis and his nephew Renfriew!
After Jerry accidentally injures her, Diana, Jerry, and Renfriew are teleported to Paradise Island to rescue her mother who has been kidnapped by Zodor the Barbarian.
Jerry, with the aid of Amazon Brawnhilde, defeats Zodor's best warrior, Bulque.
Now they must figure out how to rescue Diana's mother, Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons!
Wait!
According to the sales figures at the bottom of the last page, this book was selling 174,000 copies an issue?
DC, Marvel, Dark Horse and the others would kill for those sort of sales figures today!

Note: We originally-planned to present the never-reprinted...
..based on the lost TV series Once a Hero, but Lewis' passing has inspired (if that's the word) us to present his never-reprinted team-ups with DC Comics' icons!

Captain's Library ADVENTURES OF JERRY LEWIS "Jerry Meets the New Wonder Woman" Part 1

Did you know the late Jerry Lewis was not only a comic, but a comic book?
Yes, true believer!
Plus, he met several DC Comics heroes...and a heroine!
You think it's over?
Hardly!
Jerry had one of the longest-running books among the celebrity-comic book crowd.
Starring Lewis and his then-partner, The Adventures of Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis debuted in July, 1952, ran for 40 issues, and ended when the partnership did, in mid-1957.
DC kept the title going without Dino for another 84 issues until June 1971, plus one 68-page Super DC Giant! for a total of 125 books...an impressive run by anyone's standards.
During this run, Jerry encountered Superman, Batman, the Flash, and last, but not least, Wonder Woman, who was in her non-super-powered story arc that ran from 1968 to 1972.
But writer Alan Riefe, penciler Bob Oksner, and inker Tex Blaisdell decided to go a bit outside the Wonder Woman series continuity and allow Diana to return to Paradise Island...which she couldn't do at that point in the comic!
Yes, this never-reprinted tale from AoJL #117 (1970) is not Silver-Age canon!
Shocking, ain't it?

Captain's Library GET SMART "Infiltration Caper"

Would you believe the spies you're supposed to infiltrate want you to infiltrate the spies who employ you?
Only Maxwell Smart could end up in that situation...
Illustrated by Henry Scarpelli, this tale from Dell's Get Smart #7 (1967) captures more of the vaudville-humor flavor of the show itself than most of the comic stories.
Unfortunately, it was also the last new issue of the comic.
Scarpelli illustrated a number of Dell's tv adaptations, including The Beverly Hillbillies, Bewitched, Hogan’s Heroes and McHale’s Navy.
He eventually ended up at Archie Comics, where he did both comic book stories, and illustrated the both the Archie daily and Sunday newspaper strip for 15 years!
The writer is Alan Reife, who also wrote The Adventures of Jerry Lewis for DC.
