Captain's Library RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK Chapter 3 Part 2

When Last We Left Our Favorite Archeologist-Adventurer...

Cover by Walt Simonson

Recovering the Ark of the Covenant and rescuing Marion Ravenswood, Indiana Jones sails on the freighter Bantu Wind, captained by Sallah's friend, Simon Katanga.
But a Nazi U-boat intercepts the ship, with Nazi Belloq and amoral tomb robber Dietrich grabbing both the Ark and Marion.
Katanga tells the Germans he killed Indy and the body was tossed overboard, but that's only half-true, as a very-alive Jones swims over to the sub after the crew gets inside...
So that's how Indy survived the trip to the base!

For the record, the "Indy tying himself to the periscope" scene was filmed, but they felt it was too unconvincing and didn't have either the time or budget to re-do/fix it.
There's a couple of interesting omissions in the adaptation...such as Indiana never clobbering Nazis and stealing their uniforms!
He's still wearing his leather jacket and khakis until the end of the comic...but the cover
(probably the last thing illustrated before going to press) does have him in a German uniform!)
BTW...
The story's not over, even though the movie adaptation is completed!
There was a two-part direct sequel in the comics resolving another plot hole from the movie, which you'll see here, starting...
MONDAY!
