Captain's Library SEVENTH VOYAGE OF SINBAD Conclusion

To return the minaturized Princess Parisa to her normal size, Sinbad and Sokurah the scheming magician return to Colossa where they overcome the Cyclops and Roc, but is it at the cost of Sinbad's life?
Trying to fit an almost two-hour movie into only 18 pages forces the creatives (writer John Warner and illustrator Sonny Trinidad to use those text pages to condense the action.
(Note: Marvel's adaptation of Star Wars two years later took 6 whole issues!)
The lovely Gil Kane/Joe Sinnott cover also condenses two of the battles into one and adds an extra skeleton into the mix.
The cover for the British reprint edition, which combined both this tale and the earlier two-issue Golden Voyage of Sinbad adaptation pits the creatures for both films against the bearded Sinbad (played by John Phillip Law) from Golden Voyage!
Plus, this comic placed 7th Voyage after Golden Voyage, making 7th Voyage a sequel, despite being made almost 20 years earlier!
Next week, our final adaptation, a never-reprinted British-only tale!
Plus a special Captain's Theatre post with trailers, behind the scenes stuff and a couple of surprises!

Captain's Library: CAPTAIN AMERICA "Adventures of Captain America" Conclusion

A flashback to 1944 reveals how Captain America and Bucky were sent to investigate rumors that Nazis were attempting to sabotage production of the Captain America movie serial!
When the actor playing Cap is shot and wounded during filming, the real CA steps in to take his place!
And it turns out, the rumors were TRUE...
Dekker had gotten away, and survived until the "present day" (1977) where he...well that's a story for another time.
Story by movie serial expert, animation scripter, and occasional comic book writer Don Glut.
Art by Marvel stalwarts Sal Buscema and Joe Sinnott.
Here's a special Captain Video bonus; a feature from 1964's HTF On the Scene Presents SuperHeroes! one-shot magazine about the real reel-life Captain America...

Captain's Library: CAPTAIN AMERICA "Adventures of Captain America" Part 1

Poster from the 1944 movie serial!
We're presenting a slightly-different story this week, a fictional tale on the real-life filming of the reel-life Captain America serial from 1944!

Movie serial authority (and occasional comic book writer) Don Glut pitched a story to Marvel about how Captain America and Bucky ended up working on the Republic Pictures movie serial in order to stop a plot by the Red Skull to sabotage the film's production!
The story, told in flashback, began as Private Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes went on leave...
"Democracy Pictures" = Republic Pictures
"Sundown Dawson" = Sunset Carson, noted 1940s Western b-movie actor.
"Lyle Dekker" = Howard  & Theodore Lydecker, Republic Pictures' SFX wizards
"Glenn Reeper" = stuntman Dale Van Sickel. "Whit Spencer" = directors William Whitney & Spencer Bennett. Everything (except the reason for no Bucky in the serial) is true!
"Tim Irons" = stuntman Tom Steele
"Jet-Man" poster in panel one refers to the "Rocket Man" serial!
The REAL Lydecker Brothers were NOT Nazi agents! ;-)
We're ending today's entry on (what else?) a cliffhanger!
But, it's not just a make-believe one as things are about to turn deadly on-set!
Tune in tomorrow for both
1) the astounding conclusion
2) and some more background info about the movie serial!

Captain's Library: LONE RANGER THE MOVIE Part 2

The Lone Ranger and Tonto save a man being attacked by Indians...or are the ambushers someone pretending to be Indians?
If so, why?
Perhaps the answer lies with local rancher Reece Kilgore, who wants the nearby Indian reservation moved by any means, fair or foul!
Why?
The Lone Ranger, in disguise as a crotchety old gold prospector, visits the nearby town...
To be continued at
Tomorrow!
The adaptor of the movie script is unknown, but the art is by longtime Lone Ranger and Silver (yes, the horse had his own comic) artist Tom Gill with inking on some pages by Joe Sinnott.

Captain's Library: LONE RANGER THE MOVIE Part 1

Your eyes do not deceive you, fans!
There are cowboys and Indians running around here!
As a comic adaptation of a feature film based on a tv series based on a dramatic radio show about a masked hero, I felt this tale qualified as Captain Video material.
It's the never-reprinted adaptation of the 1956 feature film which was filmed right before the final season of the tv series began.
It was also the first color live-action Lone Ranger people saw!

However, this story is so big (over 60 pages) that it'll take more than one blog to tell it!
The story starts here, in the Secret Sanctum today and tomorrow, continues in Hero & Heroine Histories™ for the middle two chapters, then concludes in Western Comics Adventures™ on the 4th of July!
Join us as we make Internet history with the first multi-blog serialized story!
The Masked Man KNOWS things are NOT what they seem!
Tomorrow, the Lone Ranger and Tonto infiltrate and investigate...
Don't miss it!
