Video's Valentine FLYING NUN "Perfect Valentine"

During the Swinging Sixties, you could turn almost anything into a TV series...
...as this silly, but amusing series (and spin-off comic) prove!
Though Sally Field's previous TV series, Gidget, had done poorly in the ratings and was cancelled after only one year, ABC discovered the starlet was incredibly-popular with the teen audience...which the ratings system of the time didn't take into account!
With sci-fi/fantasy dominating pop culture, the network commissioned a new series with a fantasy theme, resulting in a three-year run!

Captain's Library MAD MAGAZINE Carl Reiner's "A Saw Screams at Midnight"

Behind the cover of MAD #30 (1956) which is as appropriate today as it was then...
...lurks the only known comic book work by the late, great Carl Reiner (1922-2020)!
The book this never-reprinted two-page piece excerpts is A Saw Screams at Midnight (1956)...
...attributed to "G A Mills".
Oddly, "Mills" never wrote anything else, so it's likely this was a joint project by some (or all) the Hail Caesar writing staff (which Reiner was a member of) or Reiner himself.
Trivia: this is one of a half-dozen features that are not included in the Totally MAD cd-roms that otherwise have everything else in every issue of MAD Magazine (not the earlier color comic) up to when it was released in early 1999, so when we say "never-reprinted", we mean it!
BTW, Carl was a patriot to the end...as THIS VIDEO will attest!
Don't let Carl be forgotten...

CoronaVirus Captain's Library CRACKED "O'Meagre Man"

Much like Blacula, The Omega Man is one of the few 1950s-1970s genre films...
...that didn't have a "straight" comics adaptation!
For those who don't "get" the dated punchline, the final reveal shows the leader to be the primary character of the politically-incorrect 1970s TV series All in the Family.
Illustrated by John Severin (with an assist on likenesses by his sister, master caricaturist Marie Severin), this story from Major Publications' Cracked #100 (1972) is the only adaptation and only spoof of the movie, which itself is the second movie adaptation of Richard Matheson's novelette I Am Legend!
(The first was 1964's Last Man on Earth, starring Vincent Price!)
All three versions specify that a virus kills most of the human population and mutates almost all the survivors into creatures (ghouls/vampires/zombies depending on which version you're watching)!
Note: two of the three cinema versions specify that the disease is man-made!
(Thr original novella indicates it's a natural mutation of rabies and carried by animals!
In the Will Smith movie, it's called the "Krippen Virus" and was intended to destroy cancer cells.
In the Charlton Heston flick, it's nameless biological weapons used by Red China and the USSR in a border conflict which gets out of control!
In the Vincent Price movie, the plague's cause is unspecified.
