Captain's Library: ALIEN Part 2

In deep space, the Weyland-Yutani refinery transport Nostromo intercepts a call from an unknown source.
The ship's computer awakens the crew from suspended animation and they are given the orders to land and investigate..
.

This ground-breaking 1979 comic adaptation by writer Archie Goodwin and artist Walt Simonson was the first graphic novel movie adaptation.
Yes, there were comic books (and you've seen a number of them on this blog), but this was a trade paperback of all-new material!
Officially called Heavy Metal presents ALIEN: the Illustrated Story, and produced as a trade paperback sold in bookstores, it was a major hit for the infant Heavy Metal publishing group spun off from National Lampoon.

There's a new edition of this long-out-of-print graphic novel, scanned and mastered directly from the original art still in Walt Simonson's possession, coming out on May 28th!
You can pre-order it from Amazon in either Deluxe HardCover or Trade Paperback format.

Captain's Library: SPACE PATROL "Outlaws of Vesta"

Continuing the short-lived cosmic comic adventures of Buzz Corry...
...with another tale from Ziff-Davis' Space Patrol #1 (1952)!
Yes, Tonga was still a "bad" girl at this point in the series.
Though the art is clearly Bernie Krigstein, there's debate as to whether the writer is Paul S Newman or Phillip Evans.
There's more Space Patrol excitement to come as we present every tale from its' two-issue run!
Watch for it!

Captain's Library: MYSTERIOUS TRAVELER "Secret Mission"

Though his radio show had been off the air for several years...
...the name-value of the Mysterious Traveler had enough cachet to keep this comic book series going for several years.
This story from Tales of the Mysterious Traveler #3 (1957) was illustrated by the legendary Steve Ditko, who would later create or co-create Spider-Man, Dr Strange, The Question, The Creeper, and a number of other unusual characters.
